That isn't too much
different from the died-on-the-vine draft RFC for the TCP Trailer checksum
option from the earlyish 1990's. That
one of course was only between TCPs - it basically exchanged the last two data
bytes of the TCP segment with the checksum field of the TCP header, so
validation of the checksum would remain as it was before.
